Summer in the Zillertal

Experience the Zillertal mountain summer in different ways and on different paths - you will be thrilled by the wide range of sports and activities on offer. Our house is the perfect starting point for hikes and summit ascents, sporty mountain bike tours, panoramic motorbike rides or action-packed fun sports such as paragliding, canyoning or rafting. Here at the Gattererberg in Stumm, nature still plays the leading role. Look forward to a sporty (off) time and precious days in the Zillertal mountains.

Hiking

Hiking and mountaineering are part of a summer holiday in the Zillertal, as here it is considered a national sport. And rightly so, because with a total of 1,400 km of marked hiking trails and 150 mountain huts, the Zillertal is a true hiking El Dorado. Start leisurely alpine hikes or challenging summit ascents directly at Gasthof Jägerklause. You will find a large hiking area with a multitude of signposted paths, trails and climbs right on your doorstep. Hiking along the Märzenbach, past colourful alpine meadows and rustic huts in the "Gmünd", up to the surrounding peaks - the choice is yours. Countless other starting points can be easily reached by hiking bus or Regio-Tax (free of charge for our guests). Take advantage of the summer timetable of the nearest mountain railways to get a little closer to your destination. Here in the Zillertal mountains, ambitious mountaineers as well as families with children can experience a holiday at its best.

Mountain biking

Explore the Zillertal on two wheels. A mountain bike tour provides variety, because here you go uphill and downhill, down into and out of the valley. A mountain bike area with a total of 1,200 km of bike routes of all levels of difficulty is at the disposal of cycling enthusiasts: Kilometres of cycle paths for leisurely explorations, such as the Zillertal cycle path with 31 km and 110 metres of altitude difference. Demanding mountain stages to the most beautiful huts and alpine pastures in the region. Or signposted single trails for fast descents. Reaching your destination by mountain biking with your own muscle power is a satisfaction in itself. If you are then rewarded with delicious Zillertal specialities at your destination, the sporty holiday seems to have been a complete success. If required, the mountain bike equipment can be rented in the local sports shops. You also have the opportunity to book specially trained bike guides for group or private tours. So you are guaranteed to cycle through the most beautiful spots in the Zillertal.

Motorcycling

Happiness is right behind the next bend. When riding a motorbike the journey is definitely the goal. Through the Zillertal and into the side valleys there are probably the most beautiful paths for comfortable trips and sleek tours. The most beautiful alpine and panoramic roads in Austria await you here. The Zillertaler Höhenstraße with 50 km and almost 2,000 meters of altitude difference is, next to the Gerlos Alpenstraße, probably the best known route. The latter is considered to be the connecting road between Tyrol and Salzburg and is especially known for the world-famous Krimml Waterfalls. The Schlegeis Alpine Road leads to the emerald green Schlegeis reservoir in the middle of the Zillertal Nature Park. The Stilluptal Alpine Road also leads to a picturesque reservoir and is open from May to October. The Zillergrund Alpine Road with its crisp 15 km is recommended for short trips. Each route is unique in itself, but what they all have in common is an unrestricted mountain view and an Alpine panorama that invites you to stop and pause.

Action sports

3, 2, 1 adrenaline kick. In the Zillertal, courageous people, high-flyers and water rats get their money's worth. For all those who like to climb to lofty heights, the Zillertal offers fixed rope routes of various degrees of difficulty, some of which are also suitable for children. Unique is the #Schlegeis131 via ferrata, which was built as the first via ferrata along a dam wall. There are also three via ferrata routes in Mayrhofen. And high ropes courses entice with exciting climbing high up in the treetops. Paragliding takes you even higher. The Zillertal is one of the largest flying areas in Europe. Take off with experienced tandem pilots and admire the landscape from a bird's eye view. Not far from Gasthof Jägerklause you will find the Aktivzentrum Zillertal in Aschau. In addition to tandem flights, other outdoor activities are offered there, including rafting on the Ziller or Inn rivers and canyoning tours at the Talbach waterfall. So, let's get into the fun!
